10NR31 - MRF News Release - Vote. Motorcyclists Unite. Because Politicians Do Not See a Difference.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
29 October 2010

Contact: Jeff Hennie, Vice President of Government Relations and Public Affairs

Vote. Motorcyclists Unite. Because Politicians Do Not See a Difference.

The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) does not need to remind you how important every election is in this country. However, you may not know just how crucial this particular election is to the future of motorcycling. Every two years, this country elects a brand new House of Representatives and votes on one third of the US Senate. During this past Congress, we saw attacks on the sale of youth motorcycles, several mentions of a mandatory federal helmet law, grant funding for motorcycle-only roadside checkpoints, harsh EPA suggestions toward motorcycle exhaust pipes, and other discriminatory actions against motorcyclists.

That’s why the MRF wants to stress that it is so important for every motorcyclist to vote. You know your local elected officials better than anybody (if you don’t, you have work to do). Vote for the ones who have been helpful and friendly toward motorcyclists; and as for the other ones, see that they need a new job after November 2, 2010.

Vote. It’s our gas in the tank, our rubber on the road, and the only way to maintain freedom on your motorcycle. Remember every vote counts.

VOTE NOVEMBER 2, 2010

Coming to a billboard near you!

The MRF is announcing its newest motorcyclists’ rights poster campaign. It is entitled, “Politicians See No Difference,” and is aimed at all motorcyclists. Many parts of the country see segregation of motorcyclists, depending on what style of motorcycle they ride. The problem is that the laws do not treat the many styles of motorcycles any differently than they would cars and small trucks. That is why every motorcyclist needs to get involved with the political process. Do not wait until it is too late. Get active now. The MRF’s new poster features two motorcyclists that could not be more different, with the message, “Politicians See No Difference.” Please feel free to reproduce the image, so long as the content remains unaltered.

The poster is available for download at www.mrf.org
