Are your foreign-born friends "terrorists?"

Quote of the Day: We have now sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. - George Orwell

The FISA law allows federal agents to read some of your email without a warrant. Send an email to someone in another country, and you're both exposed.

Right now, the Senate is considering an extension of the FISA Amendments Act.

I sent this letter telling my Senators to oppose it using DownsizeDC.org's "Hands off the Internet" Campaign. You may borrow from or copy this letter...

Oppose S.3276, which would extend the 2008 FISA Amendments Act for another three years.

This law seemingly targets non-citizens outside the United States. Yet Americans are still trapped...

* Can an American journalist send an email to a Middle East political activist?

* Can an American send wedding details or inside jokes to an old college friend who happens to be a Muslim living abroad?

The NSA can spy on me, and I can't find out -- EVEN IF I GO TO COURT. This was proven in the Supreme Court recently when the Obama Administration insisted that the groups upon which it spies lack "standing" to challenge the law in court. http://rt.com/usa/news/supreme-fisa-wiretap-aclu-599/

This law is an immoral farce.

We provide due-process rights to child molesters and serial killers. I'm glad that we do. It shows we are a nation of laws; NOT a nation of arbitrary power.

But you throw the Bill of Rights away when the word "terrorism"is mentioned. You trash what's BEST about America in order to "prevent" something that rarely happens.

I DO NOT CONSENT!

Don't "fix" or "reform" the FISA Amendments Act. Don't extend it with certain conditions to prevent "abuse."

Instead, FOLLOW THE CONSTITUTION. Don't allow our emails to be searched without a court-ordered warrant.

Let the FISA Amendments Act expire on December 31. I will be watching what you do and telling friends.
