On March 1, the "sequester" will take effect unless Congress averts it.
Allegedly, it would "cut" a mere $120 billion from the baseline federal budget - about 3% - each year for the next ten years.
Being The State means you're allowed to engage in fraud. But most Americans understand that these aren't really cuts at all, but a slight lowering in the rate of spending increases.
Congress should do more -- a lot more, because...
Federal spending hurts you.
That's why I wrote a letter to Congress using DownsizeDC.org's Cap the Debt campaign and encourage you to do the same..
The hardwired message says...
Do NOT raise the debt ceiling ever again.

Here is one reason: federal spending HURTS me. You tax me to spend on things I don't want.
Example: you spend 5 times more than China on the military-- and that's not even counting all the enemies you're creating with war spending!
Instead of providing "national security," our bloated Defense spending HURTS us.
* The Dept of Defense is the largest polluter on Earth.
* Our defense of other countries subsidizes THEIR social welfare schemes.
* Excessive military power seduces Presidents into needless wars.
* Which in turn kills and maims people, and leads to larger future Veterans Affairs budgets.
That's not all. Minds and resources that are now devoted to developing more efficient killing machines, or destroyed by them, could INSTEAD be used to develop technology that improves...
* the environment,
* transportation,
* medicine,
* or anything else consumers demand.
I would rather see my tax dollars literally burned than pay for most of what our "Defense" Department does.
I'm glad many in Congress are willing to see the sequester go through, which includes "cuts" in Defense.
But you must go farther than that. Make REAL and DEEP cuts across the board -- especially in the Pentagon.
And... CAP THE DEBT! Why?
Because you've already lost my support. I don't need to be ruled by your violence or the threat thereof. But I'm sharing all of your credibility-crushing foibles with my neighbors, co-workers, family, and friends. And you're making my case!
