Call To Action!

H.R. 4468 To Get Full House Vote Next Week

This week, the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) officially joined a growing number of organizations supporting H.R. 4468, the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales Act of 2023. H.R. 4468 would block the Environmental Protection Agency from mandating the use of specific technology in new motor vehicles or issuing rules that result in limited availability of vehicles based on engine type.

Thirty other national and state organizations have also put their names behind H.R. 4468. The diversity of groups speaks to the wide-ranging impact that eliminating internal combustion engines would have across the nation. Manufacturers, retailers, convenience store owners, farmers, free-market advocates, and energy groups all support H.R. 4468.

The lead sponsor of the bill, Rep. Tim Walberg of Michigan is also the co-chairman of the House Motorcycle Caucus. He understands that the internal combustion engine is part of the fabric of being a biker. The bill has moved quickly through the House of Representatives and has been placed on the Union Calendar, which means the bill is now eligible to be called up for a vote at any time. This week, Rep. Walberg's office told the MRF he is working hard to get a vote on H.R. 4468 and expects a vote during the first week of December.

The MRF has long pledged to work with other organizations when our interests align. As you can see, we are not alone in this fight. Below is the complete list of other organizations in support of H.R. 4468:

The Heritage Foundation, FreedomWorks, National Association of Convenience Stores, American Energy Alliance, Consumer Energy Alliance, National Taxpayers Union, National Automobile Dealers Association, American Petroleum Institute, American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers, National Tank Truck Carriers, National Propane Gas Association, Center for Individual Freedom, Energy Marketers of America, National Association of Small Trucking Companies, The LIBRE Initiative, Specialty Equipment Market Association, Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, Agricultural Retailers Association, National Association of Truck Stop Operators, SIGMA: America’s Leading Fuel Marketers, Idaho Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association, American Exploration and Production Council, Western Energy Alliance, Idaho Farm Bureau, American Farm Bureau, National Corn Growers Association, Idaho Automobile Dealers Association, Texas Automobile Dealers Association, Montana Automobile Dealers Association, Americans for Prosperity and Michigan Corn Growers.
